Welcome: Miss lebanon Pageant: Starting 8th of March 2010: Finals 1st of May 2010:
Nadene Hallal
Age 22
Hobbies
I really enjoy cooking exotic food. Outdoor adventure such as hiking and bike riding are my favorite sports. Reading non-fiction literature such as Biographies and History focusing on the Arab world gives me great knowledge as to what other people have been through in their lives and to appreciate what I have. I have a keen interest in politics both in Australia and Lebanon as I think it’s important to know what goes on in the country you are living in.
Motto in life
“Don’t always go where the path may lead you, but go where there is no path and leave a trail”
Background
I was born in Sydney, raised in Lebanon through my teens before moving back to Australia to further my career in Beauty Therapy. During my stay overseas, I learnt how to read, write and speak Arabic, French and English fluently. It brings me great joy that I was able to combine both Australian and Lebanese culture to define the person I am today.
Goals
Apart from trying to win Miss Lebanon Australia 2010, I hope to eventually run my own company specializing in Beauty Therapy. I would hope that one day I can open up a Beauty School in Lebanon, in order to teach and give the girls there the same opportunities that I had when I moved back to Australia.
If I win Miss Lebanon
I would like to change the misconception that most pageant contestants have, I believe that true beauty is on the inside not the outside. I really think there is a lot we can do to give back to the community. I plan on using my exposure to further the development of Lebanese women in Australia. I also want to show other cultures the true beauty of Lebanese people and their culture.

This Saturday the 13th, Banana Joes in Marrickville (258 Illawarra Road) have allowed me to do a sausage sizzle fundraiser. They have agreed to allow me to do this every second saturday starting at 11am. This week because it is the first week, i will have only the sausages but as the weeks progress I will make cupcakes, lebanese chocolates ( which I will be selling as an individual fundraiser aswell) etc. Through Banana Joes I have meet many potential sponsors in the Marrickville community. I had a graphics designer make me beautiful posters which will be stuck on the window so that customers are aware of who I am and what my aim is. Its going to be a lovely day and the publicity that it will bring for me in the community will be great. |

Who uses our products?
Austral Bricks
Austral Bricks has a proud history of brickmaking spanning over 100 years.
Just as clay bricks helped to build the new colony in 1788, creating the first manufacturing industry, Austral Bricks has led the industry into the 21st century.
The Austral Brick Company was founded in 1908 by a group of investors and builders led by Edwin Spackman. The company established itself as a major player in the brick industry by the outbreak of World War I in 1914.
Riding the boom of the 1920s and steering a path through the Depression years, the name Austral Bricks came to be associated with the remarkable figure of William King Dawes whose hold over Austral Bricks and Brickworks Limited extended for over half a century. Without Dawes, Austral Bricks may not have survived the devastating economic collapse of the Depression.
Certainly the history of Brickworks Limited, established in 1934 by Dawes and other private brick manufacturers would have followed a different course altogether. Moreover, without the foresight of Jim Millner, the chairman of Washington H Soul Pattinson, who was the joint architect in 1969 with Dawes of the cross holding with Brickworks, both companies may have succumbed to hostile takeovers.
Dawes’ three successors Albert Burgess, Alan Bentley and Lindsay Partridge, the current managing director, took Brickworks and its flag bearer Austral Bricks, to new heights.
Under Lindsay Partridge the company has been transformed from a state based operation to a national organisation with manufacturing operations in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland.
These manufacturing operations are continually upgraded and modernised, implementing the world’s best technology and environmental protection features.
This ensures the maintenance of production efficiency and quality to enable the introduction of new and highly innovative products creating new fashions and trends in the residential and commercial building markets.
The experience of over one hundred years of brickmaking brings with it a unique ability to build a dedicated team of people committed to excellence in brick production, research and development ready for the many challenges of the next 100 years.
Note: For a fuller account of the history of Austral Bricks we recommend The Brickmasters 1788-2008 by Ron Ringer. This comprehensive history of the company was commissioned as part of the centenary celebrations of Austral Bricks in 2008.
